William Park :
SELL ANNA :

Scott Haines : For energy saving, I would consider installing a motion sensor for the screen in your frame.
Anton S. : The wiggly end on the measuring tape has a purpose!

If you push against something it will give you a correct measurement and if you pull on it the wiggly bit will adjust so the measurement is accurate as well. By being wiggly it corrects the error due to the thickness of the metal bit.
Chris Crouch : Love this idea! I was planning on making a MagicMirror, but this is much more along the lines of what my wife wanted. I build most of our furniture, so the frame part was no big deal, but your instructions and recommendation for Dakboard made the whole thing simple!! We have our shared calendar, ToDo list, weather and even Life360 locations displayed on a 28" LG TV (portrait) between our kitchen and dining room.

Thanks for this idea, and the step-by-step links!!
RebelScum : Thank you for including your frustrations, mistakes, and false starts. It's really encouraging and a good lesson. Keep up the good work!
dR.Ugz : the "wiggly end" or hook on a tape measure moves to compensate for the thickness of the hook so you get the same measurement whether you push the tape up to something or hook it on to pull.

Digital Dashboard/Calendar for Smart Homes DIY

This is a video reviewing the features of my custom digital dashboard with Magic Mirror software installed, and showing you how to install a setup of your own just like this one. This device is an entire dashboard with many features, but you can start by installing it as a DIY digital calendar or wall display!

My digital dashboard sits in the area just next to my kitchen, which makes it a perfect kitchen dashboard as well. The large and vertically-mounted 43" Vizio display shows so much information at a glance; the date/time, my Google Calendar events, current weather \u0026 forecast, a grocery list powered by Bring, a stock table, a QR code for my wifi and news headlines. All sitting atop some gorgeous wallpapers from /r/cityporn!

I am even able pull it out, thanks to the swivel mount; and use Chromecast – or Google Cast, as they call it now – through a module called MMM-Screencast, to follow along to video tutorials!

My Magic Mirror modules:
- clock
- calendar
- currentweather
- weatherforecast
- MMM-Bring
- MMM-AVStock
- MMM-WiFiPassword
- newsfeed
- MMM-Wallpaper
- MMM-Screencast

Much has happened over the months and I have many things to talk about.

Today, I want to take this opportunity and use my platform to share my support for the causes that are taking actions to make this world a better place, in light of what's happening around us.

Thanks, I hope to see you around!
Afnan Khokhar : Man, that's such a cool setup! Hope to have something like that in my place one day.
Brandon James Greer : Hey new video!! This is such an awesome 'futuristic' home kind of idea, really interesting functionality and you did a great job with the DIY build! Is there a way to customize the interface graphics? For example, it'd be cool to see with a pixel art interface (...of course!) :D
Marc : Great video. I appreciate you including the work you did to add the extra outlet and it helped convince me to take up this project.
Bass42894 : Exactly what I am looking to build. Thank you for logging and sharing what you've made. I will use this as a guide. THANK YOU
